Pookela Chants, Mark Kealii Hoomalu

Po’okela Chants is the debut album from Kumu Hula Mark Keali’i Ho’omalu. When first released, Po’okela Chants shot up to the top of the Hawaiian music charts and has since received exceptional praise for his innovative style of traditional chanting. The music of this album features chants, both traditional and contemporary, mostly solo with an ipu or pahu drum accompaniment, but also featuring a small group of vocalist for the choruses.
